All of our content is online - in-person events are not a priority
This allows us to address geographical cold spots, where some young people in rural communities in the UK cannot access widening participation schemes or support
šø Free, open access
Our content will always be free to use and access - we are committed to widening access to medicine and levelling the playing field for applications
Wherever possible, accessing our content will be as easy as possible - not limited by registration processes unnecessarily
š Scalable
All our activities are designed to be scalable enough to reach all those who need to access them
In 2019, more than 23,000 young people applied to medicine in the UK - so we have a lot of applicants to reach!
We believe that medical students are best placed to advise on the medicine applications process - they have an up-to-date understanding of the process, they have recent personal experience and they can provide near-peer teaching
We Are Medics provides national leadership opportunities for medical students which would otherwise be difficult to access
š„ Rival commercial providers
The paid-for admissions support sector has grown rapidly in the past decade.
There is a lack of data to understand how the growth of this sector has influenced the diversity of medical school cohorts.
Wherever possible, we will aim to rival and replicate the services commercial companies provide, at no cost to young people
